A Gentle Escape: The Herbs I Use for Stress & Anxiety
Share
There was a time when I didn’t know how to quiet my body—when stress lived in my shoulders and anxiety raced through my chest like wildfire. I didn’t want to be numbed—I wanted to feel, but feel safe. That’s when I started turning to herbs.
Not to escape, but to soften. To regulate. To reconnect.
Below are the herbs that found me, held me, and helped me breathe through the noise.
Lemon Balm
A bright, lemony herb that feels like sunshine for the nervous system. Known to calm restlessness, ease anxious thoughts, and support emotional clarity. I love using it when I’m overstimulated but still want to get things done.
Chamomile
Soothing and familiar—like a warm hug. This one helps me release tension, especially when I’m carrying emotional weight or having trouble sleeping. It brings me back to my breath.
Lavender
She’s soft but strong. Lavender clears mental fog, balances mood, and invites peace. I add her when I want my blend to feel nurturing and sensual.
Skullcap
The secret support for deep nervous system relaxation. Skullcap works gently but powerfully—it helps me quiet the loop of overthinking without feeling drowsy or disconnected.
Rose Petals
Not always included, but when they are… whew. Rose opens the heart. She’s the softness when I feel guarded. The reminder to love on myself while I heal.
Introducing: Anxie-Tea
This blend was born out of that journey.
A slow, floral steep for the moments you feel scattered or on edge.
I crafted it to feel like grounding and grace in one.
Ingredients:
Lemon Balm, Chamomile, Lavender, Skullcap, Rose Petals
Steep: 1.5–2 tsp in 8 oz hot water, covered for 10–15 minutes. Breathe deep while it brews.
My Reminder to You:
You don’t need to be “fixed.”
You don’t need to feel ashamed for needing comfort.
You just need space to regulate, reconnect, and return to yourself.
Let this cup be a gentle escape—not away from who you are, but back to who you are.
With love, always – Brezzey
